Purpose

Jacqueline Go is an implementation of the old asian strategy game of Go. Try to surround empty fields and the stones of the enemy by putting your stones on the board. If a group of enemy stones is completely surrounded, it is removed from the board. The player with more stones and more territory wins.

For experienced players, Jacqueline Go offers the following features:

• load and save SGF files
• edit game positions
• handicap stones
• can be used as a front end for other go programs (GNU Go, GTP)
• offers different boards
• supports English, German and Swiss German

How to use it

You need an Intel Mac to run Jacqueline Go. Download Jacqueline.dmg. Open it and drag Jacqueline.app in your application folder. Start the application as usual.
This is a preconfigured packages which also contains GNU Go. GNU Go is a Go engine, developed by the Free Software Foundation and is licensed under the GNU GPL. Since Jacqueline Go can only play 9*9 Go, you must select Gnu Go as a player, if you want to play 19*19 Go.

  Version 1.8 published, Plays faster and a little bit stronger. Changed Komi to 7.5

  Version 1.7 published, Implemented heavy playouts and RAVE. Calculates 100000 playouts per move on an empty board.
• 24.04.2008
  Version 1.6 published, Fixed some bugs in the engine, that prevented it from playing stronger. It takes about 10 seconds to calculate a move on a dual core Intel Mac. If you think this is slow, keep in mind, that it calculates 820000 complete random go games on an empty board to find a move.

  Version 1.5 published, Abandoned java and XP version. The engine has been reprogrammed in C and uses now the UCT algorithm.
• 1.02.2007
  Version 1.4 published, ported to Java 5.0 and to Mac OS X. Some minor bug fixes 1.4 has the same functionality as 1.3 but runs now on Mac.

  Version 1.3 published, slightly stronger, faster gui, smaller program size, various corrections and improvements

  Version 1.2 published, increased playing strength, support for handicap stones and early game ends
